- Intro text: Swapping toys instead of buying them: a smart choice for St Nicholas. Give toys a new life during the swap market on 14 November.
- Municipality: Gorinchem
- Street and house number: Dukatenplein 2
- Place: Gorinchem
- Location: Rozenobel neighbourhood centre
With Sinterklaas in sight, Waardlanden and the LimonadeBrigade are organising a toy exchange market on Thursday 14 November in community centre Rozenobel in Gorinchem. A great opportunity to give unused toys a new life and to celebrate Sinterklaas in an environmentally friendly and inexpensive way.
With this toy exchange market, we will make the Sinterklaas party not only inexpensive, but also more sustainable. In many households, many toys remain unused while still in good condition. By swapping these toys, other children can be made happy and fewer new items need to be bought. This reduces waste, packaging, the use of new raw materials, time and purchasing stress.
How does it work?
You can hand in good, clean and complete toys at:
- Friday 8 November during the Parent-Child walk-in in community centre Rozenobel at Dukatenplein 2 in Gorinchem
- Thursday 14 November between 18:15 and 19:00, just before the swap meet
For each toy handed in, you will receive vouchers. With these, you can pick out other toys during the swap party on 14 November, from 19:15 to 20:00. Even if you only want to donate without swapping, you are welcome.
Free sustainable wrapping sheet for the first 50 visitors
The first 50 visitors who exchange toys will receive a free wrapping sheet from the municipality of Gorinchem. This sustainable wrapping sheet is made from leftover textile by circular craft house De Gezel. So you can wrap your gifts sustainably time after time - without extra waste.
A celebration of sharing
Toys left over after the swap market go to the Toy Bank. Then other children can also enjoy them and the Sinterklaas party becomes more sustainable and beneficial for everyone. Please note that books and soft toys will not be accepted or exchanged.

- Intro text: A special creative project in Molenlanden municipality. Pupils from four primary schools in the neighbourhood made design drawings for the new dustbins. Something that not only makes the neighbourhood more beautiful, but also cleaner! Come to the unveiling of the first waste paper basket
- Municipality: Molenlanden
- Street and house number: Kleyburg Square
- Place: Nieuw-Lekkerland
A particularly creative project in Molenlanden municipality. Pupils from four primary schools in the neighbourhood are giving litter bins a new look. Something that not only makes the neighbourhood more beautiful, but also cleaner! The municipality and Waardlanden are working together with Cornelissen advertising on this special project in which art is used for a cleaner environment.
In 2024, Waardlanden conducted a survey on litter in the municipality of Molenlanden. This showed that it is important to have enough litter bins that are clean and whole. Unfortunately, this is sometimes lacking, which causes more litter. The "Pimp your Trashcan" project offers a solution by pimping up the bins and thereby making them more attractive. Through the brightly coloured bins, we encourage residents to throw their rubbish in the bins.
The makeover of dustbins: together with the neighbourhood
Litter bins in Molenlanden are transformed into true works of art. Pupils from the Rehoboth school from Groot-Ammers, Bredeschool Lingewaard from Arkel, De Schakel from Nieuw-Lekkerland, Chr. Basisschool EbenHaezer from Nieuwpoort and CBS De Bron from Molenaarsgraaf made creative design drawings for the new dustbins. These designs were turned into beautiful works of art by graffiti artists and are expertly sprayed on the bins. The goal? Bins that not only stand out, but are also a treat to use! Because throwing your rubbish on the street? That really is out of date.
A party to throw away waste
On Tuesday 15 October, the first dustbin at Kleyburgplein in Nieuw-Lekkerland will be officially unveiled at 10am. Be surprised by the creative wastebaskets and still come to the unveiling on 15 October.
