Back to overview

In the coming period, you as a resident of Molenlanden municipality will be faced with changes around waste collection. Together with the municipality, we have worked carefully on the preparations and are implementing the changes step by step. In September, all residents in the built-up area will receive an environmental pass for each household. After that, the collection containers for residual waste will be closed in the cores. The containers can then only be opened with the environmental pass. This change will help Molenlanden municipality tackle problems such as waste tourism.

Step by step

On 28 August 2023, we will send residents in the built-up areas of Arkel, Giessen-Oudekerk, Giessenburg, Goudriaan, Hoogblokland, Hoornaar, Langerak, Nieuwpoort, Noordeloos, Ottoland and Schelluinen the environmental pass with an explanation of how to use the pass. From 4 September 2023, the collection containers for residual waste will be closed in these cores.
On 4 September, we will also send residents in the built-up areas of Bleskensgraaf, Brandwijk, Groot-Ammers, Kinderdijk, Nieuw-Lekkerland, Molenaarsgraaf, Oud-Alblas, Streefkerk and Wijngaarden the environmental pass with an explanation of how to use the pass. From 11 September, the collection containers for residual waste will be closed in these centres.

What else is changing?

The collection containers for plastic packaging, metal packaging and drink cartons (pmd) will disappear. Waste analyses have shown that the quality of pmd in collection containers is insufficient. Therefore, residents of flats, upstairs flats and houses within Nieuwpoort's fortress may dispose of residual waste and pmd together in the collection container for residual waste. This waste is collected separately and later sorted by machines. This allows us to recycle more and we need to incinerate less residual waste. All other raw materials such as glass, textiles, paper and cardboard can continue to be separated. Residents of high-rise buildings can now also separate their vegetable, fruit and garden waste and food waste (VGF). The environmental card allows them to open the new bins for VGF waste.

Residents outside area get environmental pass during 2023

Residents in the outlying area and on the outskirts of Molenlanden municipality will have received a new residual waste container at their homes by autumn 2022. They will also receive an environmental pass this autumn. With the environmental pass, they cannot open the residual waste containers in the cores. From 1 December 2023, all residents will need the pass to access Waardlanden's environmental centres.
