Back to overview

In the coming period, there will be changes concerning waste collection in Molenlanden, Gorinchem, Hardinxveld-Giessendam and Vijfheerenlanden. Together with the municipalities, we want to encourage and help all inhabitants to reduce their residual waste and separate it (even) better. What will change for you depends on your living situation. The changes will be implemented step by step in each municipality. After Hardinxveld-Giessendam and Gorinchem, we will also start in Molenlanden at the beginning of September.

Do you live in the built-up area of Molenlanden? If so, we will send you a letter this week explaining why we are making these changes. And we will tell you that you will receive the environmental pass in September.

Step by step

Residents in the built-up areas of Arkel, Giessen-Oudekerk, Giessenburg, Goudriaan, Hoogblokland, Hoornaar, Langerak, Nieuwpoort, Noordeloos, Ottoland and Schelluinen will receive a letter with the environmental pass on 28 August. From 4 September, we will close the collection containers for residual waste in these centres. The containers can then only be opened with the environment pass.

We will send the letter with environmental card to residents of the built-up areas of Bleskensgraaf, Brandwijk, Groot-Ammers, Kinderdijk, Nieuw-Lekkerland, Molenaarsgraaf, Oud-Alblas, Streefkerk and Wijngaarden on 4 September. We will close the collection containers for residual waste in these centres from 11 September.

Finally, in late October/early November it will be the turn of municipality Vijfheerenlanden. Businesses with a contract to use the underground containers at Waardlanden Reinigingsbedrijf BV will also receive an environmental pass in the coming period. Find out more about the environment pass for businesses at www.waardlanden.nl/bedrijven.

Offering waste and raw materials separately: what will change?

To process waste as raw material, it is important that you separate your waste at home as much as possible and offer it separately. How you do that with the introduction of the environmental card depends on your living situation.

Low-rise

If you live in a low-rise house in the built-up area of Molenlanden municipality, you will have three containers at your home:

  • Container for waste paper and cardboard
  • Container for plastic packaging, metal packaging and drink cartons (pmd)
  • Container for fruit, vegetable and garden waste and food waste (VGF)

You dispose of your rubbish bag with residual waste in the collection container for residual waste in your neighbourhood. Soon, you will only be able to open it with your environmental pass. You will not have to pay separately for this in 2023.

High-rise and low-rise buildings without containers

If you live in high-rise or low-rise buildings without space for three containers at your house, you bring your separated waste to collection containers in your neighbourhood:

  • Collection container for fruit, vegetable and garden waste and food waste (VGF)
You will soon be able to open these using the environmental card. You will not have to pay separately for this.
  • Collection container for paper
  • Collection container for residual waste
Soon you will only be able to open it with your environmental pass. You dispose of your plastic packaging, metal packaging and drink cartons (pmd) in this container together with your residual waste. You will not have to pay separately for this in 2023. We will separate this waste afterwards using a machine.

Note: collection containers for pmd disappear.

By high-rise buildings we mean flats, flats and upstairs houses. Low-rise houses without space for containers are, for example, in Nieuwpoort and in a hamlet such as De Giessenburg and De Bilderhof.

Outlying area

Do you live in the outlying area or on the outskirts of your municipality with containers for residual waste, pmd, organic waste and paper near your home? Then you will no longer be able to use the collection containers for residual waste in the cores after the introduction of the environment pass.

To the waste disposal site with the environment card

During 2023, all residents will need the environmental pass to access the environmental centres. For this purpose, residents of the outlying area will also receive an environmental pass per household later this year.

Questions?

We can imagine that, like many other residents, you have questions about the changes. This is understandable. That is why you will find more information and answers to frequently asked questions on our website. Go to waardlanden.nl/samenafafvalvrij
