Back to overview

Let's roll up our sleeves together because leaves and trimmings can also be given a second life. Use the tips below to give your garden waste a new meaning.

Garden waste tips

  1. Create your own compost heap in the garden: Reduce waste and improve the soil at the same time. Please note: not everything that goes in the organic waste container can go on the compost heap! More information on composting can be found on the website of Milieu Centraal.

  2. Using a worm hotel to compost your balcony: No garden? No problem! With a worm hotel, you can also compost on your balcony. Treat your plants to the best soil conditioner.

  3. Chickens help with composting: Chickens are not only cosy, they also help with composting. Create a compost pile in the chicken run and see how happy they get from garden waste!

  4. Place leaves under bushes or trees: Cover them with soil for faster decomposition. Next year, enjoy a natural fertiliser for a thriving garden.

  5. Help our country's hedgehogs: Help hedgehogs by leaving a pile of leaves and branches in your garden. A small effort with big impact!
